With heavyweights like Lancer Capitals, co-owners of Manchester United, also throwing their hat in the ring, the stage is set for a competitive second round of bidding. Notably, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings opted not to participate in the first round, while there is speculation around Gujarat Titans' possible involvement, given their UK connections.
In this first round, investors are not yet required to pick one of The Hundred's eight teams, but the second round will involve more serious commercial discussions. The ECB aims to sell at least 49% of each team, with valuations expected between 75 to 100 million pounds.
Investors may need to pump in around 40 to 50 million pounds to secure their share in one of the teams, forming a partnership with county clubs.
